Conférence Enfances & bien-être : quels nouveaux défis pour la région bruxelloise?

La journée a pour but de discuter de quatre nouveaux défis qui concernent les enfants de zéro à douze ans. Pour cela, chaque problématique sera abordée sous un angle extérieur au travers du regard d’un orateur travaillant en dehors du contexte bruxellois, et sera ensuite mise en perspective par un orateur local, familier du contexte de la région bruxelloise. La transition dans le système scolaire est généralement abordée sous l’angle du passage de la maternelle au primaire. Or qu’en est-il de l’entrée en maternelle, qui constitue pourtant l’entrée dans le système pour près de la totalité des enfants ?
Pause café – 11h 11h30 - Le multilinguisme : atout ou menace en contexte scolaire ? La présence des langues, autres qu’institutionnelles, en contexte scolaire fait l’objet de débats et discours parfois contradictoires. Qu’en penser, qu’en dire, et surtout quelles pratiques adopter?
Lunch – 13h 14h - Projection Un film sur les enfants en milieu extrascolaire: BRECHT PELEMAN, VBJK 14h15 - La santé de l’enfant: apports d’une approche globale et contextualisée Bien que la santé de l’enfant soit multifactorielle, la prise en compte simultanée de ces facteurs demeure complexe. Comment les considérer de front, sans oublier les déterminants sociaux, les plus générateurs d’inégalités au sein de la population ?
Pause café – 15h45 16h15 - L’accès aux espaces publics: dans quelle(s) mesure(s) ? La conception de l’espace public peut varier notablement lorsque l’on considère le groupe des enfants. L’espace public correspond-t-il à des espaces limités et aux usages spécifiques (parcs et plaines de jeux) pour les enfants ? Avec quelles implications ?

Conferentie het Welbevinden van onze kinderen: wat zijn de nieuwe uitdagingen in het Brussels Gewest ?15 Januari 2013Lombardstraat 73, 1000 Brussel; ingang door het onthaal- en informatiecentrum
De conferentie maakt deel uit van een onderzoeksproject- gefinancierd door het Brussels Instituut InnovIris en door het Observatoire de l'Enfant de la Cocof, m.b.t. het onderzoeken van factoren die een invloed hebben op het welzijn van jonge kinderen die leven in het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. Vier nieuwe uitdagingen zullen worden besproken in relatie met kinderen van nul tot twaalf jaar, die in Brussel wonen. Elke uitdaging zal eerst worden aangepakt door een spreker niet bekend met de Brusselse situatie, gevolgd door het en in perspectief zetten door een spreker die in Brussel werkt. De overgang naar het school systeem is over het algemeen besproken in verband met de Lagere School. Maar hoe zit het met de toegang tot de kleuterschool die voor bijna alle kinderen de echte eerste ingang in het school systeem vormt.
Koffiepauze – 11uur 11u30 - Meertaligheid: meerwaarde of bedreiging binnen het schoolse context? De aanwezigheid van niet-institutionele talen binnen de schoolomgeving wordt vaak besproken en brengt nogal tegenstrijdige perspectieven. Wat weten we? Wat kan erover worden gezegd? En welke mogelijkheden zijn er?
Lunch – 13uur 14uur - Projection Een film over kinderen in hun buitenschoolse opvang: BRECHT PELEMAN, VBJK 14u15 – De gezondheid: bijdragen van een geïntegreerde en gecontextualiseerde aanpak? Hoewel de gezondheid van het kind multifactorieele is, blijft het gelijktijdig aanpakken van deze factoren complex. Hoe kan dit probleem worden overwonnen zonder de sociale determinanten, die de meeste ongelijkheden binnen de populatie genereren, te vergeten?
Koffiepauze – 15u45 16u15 - De toegang tot openbare ruimtes: in welke mate? De opvatting van de openbare ruimtes kan sterk variëren, vooral als dit voor kinderen geldt. In een dergelijk geval, moeten de openbare ruimtes worden beperkt tot specifieke gebieden en toepassingen (parken en speeltuinen) ontworpen voor kinderen? Wat zijn er de gevolgen van?

The conference is part of a research project, funded by the Brussels Institute InnovIris and by the Observatoire de l'Enfant de la Cocof, examining Factors affecting the wellbeing of young children who live in contrasted areas of the Brussels Capital-region. Four new challenges will be discussed regarding children under the age of twelve who live in Brussels. Each challenge will first be addressed by a speaker unfamiliar with the situation of Brussels, to be followed and put into perspective by a speaker working in Brussels. But what about the entry into preschool, which is actually the first entry in the school system for most children?

The status of non institutional languages inside the school environment is often debated and brings out quite contradictory perspectives. What do we know? What can be said about it? And what are the options available?
Lunch break – 13h 14h - Projection A film on children during after-school activities: BRECHT PELEMAN, VBJK 14h15 – Health: contributions from a global and contextualised approach Though health is known to be multifactorial, it is often complex to consider factors simultaneously. How can this difficulty be overcome, without disregarding social determinants which generate the most salient inequalities within the population?
Coffee break – 15h45 16h15 – Access to public spaces: but to what extent? The conception of public spaces may vary widely, especially when considering children. In such case, should public space be limited to specific areas and uses (parcs and playgrounds) designed for children? What are the implications?
